Whether you are interested in cars, SUVs, or Certified Pre-Owned trucks for sale, you have many options available to you, though not as many as when you only look at used vehicles in general. That is because only a select number of pre-owned vehicles can qualify for Chevy’s CPO program, which is good news if you prefer to save money on your next ride but still want terrific peace of mind and to have full confidence in your vehicle. Qualifications for a CPO Chevy

Age and Mileage

Before a vehicle can even be considered for the certification process, it must be under six model years old and cannot have more than 75,000 miles on it. If either of these conditions are not met, even just 75,100 miles, then it cannot be sold as a CPO Chevy. For starters, a CPO Chevy must have a clean title to ensure it has not suffered severe damage and has been properly treated and serviced by a previous owner. This includes checking a vehicle history report for it and checking for any open recalls, then making sure any applicable recalls and maintenance have been performed.

Beyond this, 172 different parts of the vehicle are inspected to ensure they are in great shape. This inspection includes checking the tires and brake pads, inspecting the condition of the vehicle inside and out for damage to the upholstery, paint, or windows, and making sure electronics and hardware are all working properly. The engine compartment, including the cooling system, ignition, and fuel system, is inspected. The underside of the vehicle is checked to make sure the suspension and other components look good. This process even includes a road test to check the engine, transmission, alignment, steering, and more. Only once this inspection is completed to Chevy’s high standards can a vehicle be sold as a CPO model, ensuring you have total peace of mind.

Right now, every new Chevy comes with a three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. If you find a CPO Chevy Colorado that is two years old with 20,000 miles on it, for example, then it would have another year and 16,000 miles of that warranty before the CPO warranty starts, adding another 12 months or 12,000 miles.
