Some Basics About the Nissan Rogue

When deciding between a CPO Rogue or any other used model, it’s best to fully understand what makes a CPO Nissan distinct. Certification for used models is set by the manufacturer, so you’ll find differences when looking at Nissan compared to other brands. Nissan is one of the best out there because it actually gives you a couple of CPO options in addition to the usual used models. Knowing what you’re looking at with a pre-owned Nissan Rogue makes it a lot easier to appreciate the benefits of each one.

The most impressive option is Nissan Certified, which is what a lot of people think of when talking about CPO models. In order for a vehicle to be Nissan Certified, it has to be from the last six model years and must have less than 80,000 miles on it. If these requirements are met, then it needs to pass an extensive 167-point inspection to make sure it is in the best shape possible. Once all of these conditions are true, then it can be sold as Nissan Certified, which means it comes with a seven-year, 100,000-mile limited warranty to provide fantastic peace of mind; this is even transferable while in effect. You also get prepaid maintenance for one year or 15,000 miles to help you keep your vehicle running beautifully.

If you’re looking for something older or you want to save some money while still getting some great peace of mind, then you should consider a Nissan Certified Select model. These vehicles can be up to ten years old but must have less than 100,000 miles on them to qualify; they also need to pass an 84-point inspection. You can see that these requirements aren’t as strict as those for Nissan Certified models, but they still set a high standard. Every Nissan Certified Select model comes with a six-month, 6,000-mile limited warranty, giving you greater peace of mind than you will find with other used vehicles. You get one complimentary service visit during the first year or 15,000 miles of ownership, too.

Finally, you have other used vehicles that don’t meet the requirements of Certified Select, which typically means they’re older than ten years or have more than 100,000 miles on them. These are your basic pre-owned models that do not come with any sort of inherent warranty protection or other benefits. There’s nothing wrong with a Nissan Rogue from its first generation, but you’d definitely be looking at an older vehicle. We suggest going with one of the Nissan CPO programs to ensure you get something you’ll love driving for a long time. What’s remarkable is that non-Nissan models can even qualify for Certified Select status, giving you added warranty coverage and a $50 reimbursement on your first service visit.

Consider All of Your Used Rogue Options

So, now that you have a sense of what different types of vehicles offer, which one is right for you? That’s a smart question and ultimately comes down to what you’re looking for. If you want a Nissan Rogue that’s in the best shape possible, with some warranty coverage to protect your investment, then Nissan Certified is the way to go. Since it has to be within the last six model years, many Nissan Certified Rogues will be from the third generation, giving you great features to enjoy; some second-gen models can still qualify. The only potential downside to these vehicles is that they tend to be the most expensive option when looking at used models, though they still tend to cost less than a new Rogue.

If you want something that gives you some warranty coverage and great peace of mind at a lower price, then a Certified Select vehicle is the way to go. These will typically be second-generation Rogues, though a newer model with a lot of miles on it could fall into this category. You might miss having as much warranty protection as a fully Certified Rogue provides, but that depends on what you prefer and how much you care about warranty coverage. In general, older Rogues will fall into this category; keep in mind that our inventory changes often, however, so what you find will change frequently, too.

Finally, there are some used Nissan Rogues that are not sold as either Nissan Certified or Certified Select. This is typically because it’s older than ten years, has more than 100,000 miles, or just hasn’t gone through the certification process. Reasons for that can vary, but it often comes down to keeping such a vehicle as budget-friendly for our customers as possible. These used models are generally the least expensive options out there, so we might not bother certifying a particular Rogue to try to ensure we can help all of our customers find a great vehicle that fits their budget. You don’t usually get manufacturer warranty coverage on these used vehicles, so keep this in mind if you want great peace of mind.
